You all know (and for those they don't will find out now) that I have purchased the MAR.CO 25 Cabinato. The ONLY 25ft boat made with a cabin by MAR.CO Italy. The next boat that they are producing with a cabin is the MAR.CO 26

As I said this boat has made one only single voyage from italy to Paris via the Bay of Biscay.

Luigi (who is also known under the name Barbarossa and is a very good friend) was kind enough to scan the p[ages of Il Gommone magazine and send me the history of the raid. Is all in Italian and there are 10 pages or so. So I cannot translate the lot. However, I have cropped and resized a few indicative photos for your perusal.

Just to say that the person who did this raid is something like an adventurer in Italy and very well known in International sircles. his name is Giovanni Bracco and apart from this raid he has been doing long distance RIB cruising with various Italian made RIBs (as far I know) all with cabin.

So here are the photos that explain a few things about this trip :chapeau:

Great Manos, congrats for your new boat...
I realize that you seem to be living in Greece ?!

What kind of Rib's are popular over there ?!
Because the conditions are totally different that here in the northsea....

I believe people enjoy the sundeck more over there, rather than riding the waves as here...

Greetings from Belgium !

Thanks RIBfan :chapeau:
I live in England but I have my holidays in Greece. Best place to be in the summer (any way).
The boats that are popular are those with lots of sun deck. However, the sea in the summer is not always calm. We get a type of weather called MELTEMI that is NNE winds force 5 up to 9 sometimes. A lot of people from abroad who think that the Greek seas are easy to sail regret not paying attention and risking. Sometimes they pay with their lives.
We also have what we call BOURINI. is a type of gust that can last up to an hour very strong winds of any direction forcce 7-10. These winds canm ahpen any where without warning and when you sail you need to keep your eye out.
As all seas the Greek sea (being Ionian - which is easier to sail - or Aegean - more difficult) need respect and a lot of preparation if you want to have a good time and be safe.

Happy RIBing :biere:

First I would like to thank you all for been so kind :chapeau:

I was just sent a few more photos of the last of this boat in Croatia last summer. The boat has done total 200 hours exaxtly!! and this includes the raid to Paris from Italy. I thought that you may find them interesting. It is worth noting that the tubes of the boat do not touch the water and that the deck sits quite high up.

I have been trying to find more data about our new boat and found these two links (unfortunately they are in Italian but if you use a translator you can make some sence out of scripts) about Gionvanni Bracco and his adventures.

Have a look

GIOVANNI BRACCO AND NUOVA JOLLY 10MTRS 2004 OLYMPIC GAMES RAID (http://www.seadventure.it/avventura.htm)

GIOVANNI BRACCO AND MARC.CO 25 CABINATO PARIS RAID 2003 (http://www.seadventure.it/storia/Paris2003Raid.htm)

Giovanni has al,so sailed on a cabin RIB Nuova Jolly (I think) from Italy to Suez in Egypt and back stopping in Greece.

Any way hope you enjoy reading in Italian and translating.

And will leave you with a thought

WOULDN'T THE WORLD BE A BETTER PLACE IF WE ALL COULD SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE? :chapeau:

I should have explained a little bit more………... This boat is based on the MAR.CO 25 WORK (which is a very simple basic boat). I have asked Mauro the owner of MAR.CO to modify the deck and the cabin so is more of a family friendly boat. The deck has now soft large cushions and a large bench at the bench which can also be a sun deck. The top of the cabin is also having cushions so that people can use it as a sun deck. I like the cabin, is somewhere you can have a snooze or get out of the hot sun or even sleep at night (ONLY ONE NIGHT) if is a need. But is a nice good little boat that I hope it will serve the family well. The cabin also will have soft cushions and decoration but not like a yacht more like a simple boat. In the sea simplicity is a must

I mentioned before that this boat stands very high in the water.
have a look at this photo

http://img207.exs.cx/img207/6162/200528221114_croazia202004201120017.jpg

Here (apart from the fat belly which is smaller than mine :lachen78: :chapeau: :lachen78: ) you can see how high up the tubes are from the water.
I seems that the tubes are there just to give stability in extreme circumstanses.
