THE GREEK WEPON
I am not sure if you are aware but there will be an international RIB racing offshore rally in Egypt from 1-9 Sept 2006.
There will be 20 contenders in total one from Greece, and others from England, Belgium, Italy and Egypt.

Today I had the opportuntity to go out with the RIB that it will take part from Greece for a test ride to which I may be the co-pilot depending on work. The RIB is a TOP LINE 10 mtrs powered by two 200 racing Mercury Optimax engines with 26 BRAVO props (will be changed to 28).
I found the RIB on the treiler inm parking and my first impression was WOW:verblueff . It looked fantastic but since it hadn't be in the water I had my doubts whether it will be good or not. The pilot Grigoris Ikonomou was there and after ashort while we were at the slip near by engines in the water and ready to leave for the drive and to run in the barnd new motors. Keys in the egnitions and engines strat. The sound was ausome!:chapeau: The boat slid freom the treiler and we were in the water. we mnotored slowly for about 10 minutes to warm up the engines. Grigoris put the throttle down and in a few seconds were crusing at 60 knots (the sea was flat). Great experience!:cool:
We slowed down to a cruising speed of 45 knots (is the crusing speed of the boat) and we motored to Kea then to Kithnos and back to Kea. During our trip I discovered that at 60 knopts you can make 360 degree turns and the boat behaves like a go cart. That a 10 mtr race boat in 1 1/2 mtr waves can go at 60 knots and it does not bang and that inj general at sea (despite what many beleive) SIZE MATTERS and it matters a lot.
