maybe Willies is making a joke with adding spirit to the fuel, but speaking seriously it makes no sense.
If you are using diesel-fuel in cold countries with temperatures below zero you can add a certain percentage of gasoline to keep the diesel fluid.
But in your case with petrol engines, you can only add spirit, if the engines have the addaptation for fuel mixed gasoline with spirit (alcohol). In BRASIL they have an extra fuel mixture gasoline&alcohol at the petrolstations, but this fuel can only be used by cars with specially prepared engines. The consumption increases by about 10-15 percent, because the efficiency is less. The use of such fuel has agri-production reasons.
Here in Europe it makes no sense. Only the alternative to diesel fuel is a bio-diesel, but you also need specially prepared engines. And the actually common-rail diesel engines are to sensible for such bio-diesel.
